Three things to understand before booking

The season decides everything. Gabon doesn't have a good and a bad period, but different seasons. The long dry season, from June to September, opens up the interior trails and brings whales to the coast. The rains, from February to May, cause forest fruits to fall and attract elephants to the beaches of Loango. You choose the period, then the programme.

Capabilities are limited. The park lodges are small and few in number; some are fully booked twelve to eighteen months in advance during the high season. A trip to Gabon needs to be planned a long time in advance, as it is not a destination for spontaneity.

This is not a classic safari. The equatorial forest cannot be visited like the savannah: you see fewer animals, you walk more, and the comfort is simpler. In exchange, you are often alone in places that very few travellers have seen. It is a trip for those who prefer rarity to efficiency.

The vaccination certificate for the yellow fever is required to enter Gabon, and malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Both of these things need to be sorted weeks before departure, not the day before.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Gabon offers national parks such as Loango and Lopé, an unspoiled coastline, and above all a vibrant culture driven by some fifty peoples. We design trips that combine nature and encounters, off the beaten tourist track.
The main dry season, from June to September, offers the best conditions for accessing the interior parks and coincides with the passage of humpback whales. The rainy season has its own appeal: the waterfalls are more spectacular and the fallen fruit attracts elephants to the coast. We organise cultural holidays all year round.
Most travellers need a visa to enter Gabon, which is often available online as an e-visa. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is also required. Requirements vary depending on your nationality; we will advise you on the appropriate procedure for your situation.
Gabon has thirteen national parks, covering around 11 % of the country’s territory. Loango, where the forest meets the ocean; Lopé, home to the savannah, mandrills and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and Ivindo, with the Kongou Falls and forest clearings. We organise the logistics so you can make the most of them at the right time of year.
Yes. Gabonese culture — villages, masks, music, crafts, gastronomy — is at the heart of our stays, experienced from the inside rather than observed from afar. Encounters are organised with the communities themselves, with their agreement and for their benefit.
Yes. If you live in South Africa, we also organise your travel in both directions on the Gabon–South Africa corridor, including connections, visas and domestic logistics.
