My career path
Almost twenty years ago, I left Gabon for South Africa with a simple dream: to learn English and discover what life might be like beyond what I already knew. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but the challenges and lessons I’ve encountered along the way have shaped the person I am today. South Africa has become my home. I’m a permanent resident here, have been married for over ten years, and am the father of a lovely family. Living here has taught me a great deal: about opportunities, about resilience, about culture, and about the value of new experiences. And the more I discovered South Africa, the more I began to see my own country with fresh eyes. I realised just how much Gabon has to offer — opportunities, natural treasures and culture — all of which deserve to be discovered and experienced. That’s how Okoumé came about: a bridge of experiences between South Africa and Gabon. Through Okoumé, I want to share what I’ve learnt, help others avoid the mistakes I made, and open the door to the beauty, opportunities and adventures that both countries have to offer. — Pradino
